Once more into the fray
Into the last good fight I’ll ever know

Happy Water Day, World!
We drink it. We swim in it. We inhale it with the air we breathe, and exhale it when we sleep, when we talk, when we laugh, when we stand outside on a cold night watching the stars, our breath made visible. We sail on it, ski on it and whitewater raft on it. We are, to a large extent, made of it.
On World Water Day, we pay tribute to the most wondrous of all elements — the poetically named dihydrogen monoxide.

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much… the wheel, New York, wars, and so on, whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely the dolphins believed themselves to be more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons. — Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (via theseablog)

A Moment Under the Sea

The desolate, rippling vast sea welcomes me as I walk on the cold sand. Gently the cold water covers my feet for the first time this year; we’ve known each other for fifteen years now. I continue walking as the icy water slowly progresses from my ankles to my knees. The large rocks painfully massage my feet, but by the time the water reaches my waist the soft sand takes the pain away. Subconsciously I scrunch my toes under the sand. The water is cold and waiting does not make it any warmer, I quickly submerge my body into the life beneath.

At this early hour I’m alone with the sea. I’ve swum away from the shore; there I see old couples taking their morning walks. I feel lost in the water. One moment I’m completely unaware of my body, it becomes one with the sea. Then, the next moment I am entirely conscious of this incredible sensation of sea water surrounding me.

When I look away from the shore towards the open sea a temporary fear conquers me, but is quickly subsided by the gentle ripples. With my goggles on I take a deep breath and dive meters underwater. A sudden silence fills my ear and then is replaced by hushed clicks and swishes. Endeavoring to absorb all of the sea’s life I touch the dark sand. My hand is quickly covered hundreds of sand particles.

Now, I’m out of breath; my insufficient human lungs yearn for oxygen. As I approach the surface of the sea I let out all of the air I had sucked in and then I’m back.

My friend does not belong in captivity.
We are their biggest threat. And their only hope…

We brought the New Year Spirit to our house:) Now, all we need is snow!

Korkular

Duruyor yalnız başına binanın ucunda.
Tek başına.
Bir sağa bakıyor bir sola,
Bir aşağıya bakıyor bir yukarı.
Uzaklarda görüyor onu terk eden annesini,
Merakla izliyor uçan kardeşini.

Kıskanıyor.
Korkuyor.
Ağlayabilse, şu içindeki duyguları atabilse…
Yalnız başına.
Korumasız,
Tehlike altında.

Çocukların çocukluğu onu tehdit ediyor.
Hepsi dokunmak, ellemek, sevmek istiyor.
Bazıları ise alıp satmak istiyor.

Atlamalı
Uçmalı
Özgürlüğe kavuşmalı.

Ama ya uçamazsa?
Ya kanatlarını çırpamayıp yere düşerse.
Ölürse
Rezil olursa.
Ya herkes onunla alay ederse?

Korkuyor.

Tekrar annesinin kardeşlerinin sıcaklığını istiyor.
Tekrar güvende olmak, bilmemek istiyor.

Görüyorum yavru kartalı.
Onda görüyorum kendimi.
Korkuyorum ben de onun gibi.

Beklentilerden
Büyümekten
Acımasız dünyadan.
Korkuyorum
Yalnızlıktan
Hata yapmaktan
Yapamamaktan.

Ama uçacak.
Uçmak zorunda.
